Sustainable Development and Community Impact

IDC Milan continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development through strategic investments that support environmental resilience and community wellbeing across global markets.

As part of its long-term vision, IDC Milan is actively expanding initiatives that promote responsible investment, climate-conscious development, and inclusive growth. These efforts focus on key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and emerging technologies, ensuring that projects deliver both economic value and positive environmental and social outcomes.

Through its diversified portfolio, IDC Milan supports programmes that contribute to energy transition, resource efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure development. By prioritising innovative solutions and responsible practices, the organisation aims to reduce environmental impact while enhancing resilience across communities and regions.

A central pillar of this approach is community engagement. IDC Milan works closely with partners and stakeholders to develop projects that support local economies, improve access to essential resources, and create long-term opportunities. This includes initiatives that strengthen access to energy, improve infrastructure, and support growth in developing and emerging markets.

“We are committed to ensuring that our investments create lasting value not only for our organisation, but also for the communities and environments in which we operate,” said the Vice‑President of IDC Milan. “Sustainable development and responsible investment remain at the heart of our strategy.”

This ongoing work reflects IDC Milan’s broader ambition to align investment with global sustainability priorities. By integrating environmental, social, and governance considerations into its projects, the organisation continues to contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future.

IDC Milan remains focused on delivering meaningful impact—supporting communities, protecting the environment, and driving responsible growth across its global portfolio.

Supporting education in Africa

IDC Milan is committed to supporting access to quality education in underserved communities, including targeted initiatives in Ethiopia. Through strategic partnerships and investment, we contribute to programmes that strengthen schools, improve learning environments, and expand access to education for children and young people.

In many parts of Ethiopia, access to education remains a significant challenge, with millions of children out of school and barriers such as limited infrastructure, poverty, and distance affecting attendance and learning outcomes.

Our approach focuses on supporting sustainable solutions that address these challenges. This includes contributing to the development of school facilities, enhancing access to learning materials, and supporting programmes that improve attendance and retention—particularly in rural and vulnerable communities.

By investing in education, IDC Milan aims to help strengthen community resilience, promote equal opportunities, and support long-term economic development. Education plays a critical role in breaking cycles of poverty and enabling individuals to build more secure and sustainable futures.

Through these initiatives, IDC Milan continues to support local communities by creating opportunities for learning, empowering the next generation, and contributing to inclusive and sustainable development.

Responsible fisheries and sourcing

IDC Milan is committed to supporting the long-term sustainability of the global fisheries sector through responsible sourcing and investment practices. We promote approaches that protect marine ecosystems while ensuring the continued availability of seafood resources for future generations.

Responsible sourcing focuses on obtaining seafood in a way that avoids overfishing, safeguards biodiversity, and minimises environmental impact, while also supporting fair and ethical practices within fishing communities.

Our approach encourages the adoption of sustainable fishing methods, improved traceability across supply chains, and collaboration with stakeholders to strengthen governance and transparency. These practices help maintain healthy fish populations, protect habitats, and support the livelihoods of coastal communities that depend on fisheries for their income and wellbeing.

Through responsible investment and partnerships, IDC Milan aims to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable seafood industry—balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Protecting biodiversity and pollinators

IDC Milan recognises the vital role that biodiversity and healthy ecosystems play in supporting sustainable development and global food systems. As part of our commitment to responsible investment, we actively support initiatives that contribute to the protection of pollinators, including bees, which are essential for agriculture and environmental balance.

Bees play a critical role in pollinating crops and maintaining natural ecosystems, directly influencing food production and biodiversity. However, environmental pressures such as habitat loss, climate change, and unsustainable practices continue to threaten pollinator populations globally.

Our approach focuses on supporting projects that promote sustainable land use, protect natural habitats, and encourage environmentally responsible practices across agriculture and infrastructure development. By working with partners and stakeholders, we contribute to initiatives that enhance biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and support communities that depend on these natural systems.

Through these efforts, IDC Milan aims to help safeguard pollinator populations, support sustainable food systems, and contribute to a healthier, more balanced environment for future generations.
